Hyperpigmentation
My bro used a hydroquinone topical (2%) on some hyperpigmentated areas on my nose. But after using it for 26 days these spots first diappears only some redness and irritation persists, now the areas where I applied it are much darker than before. Are cases of getting Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH) common in some patients? Or every time this rebound hyperpigmentation is ochronosis? Please tell My bro is depressed from very long time.

Thanks for the query. Dark spots could mean many things. I assume what you mean is post inflammatory pigmentation. Targeting through a single agent may not always be fruitful. Meet a qualified Dermatologist to learn more about the diagnosis and treatment options. Combination of different therapeutic agents is always beneficial. Revlite I.e. Q-switched Nd YAG laser has been available for stubborn pigmentation and can be helpful when topical creams fail. Hope it helps.
