Question about verifying a psychologist's qualifications
I came across a YouTuber/psychologist, Dr. Neha Mehta, who claims extensive educational qualifications, including two PhDs in psychology/sexology and several other degrees and diplomas.
However, I'm having difficulty independently verifying these claims. For example, I can't find clear information about the years she completed each qualification, a publicly verifiable RCI registration number, or consistent records across professional platforms such as Practo.
How can I properly verify whether these qualifications are genuine?
Is there an official way to check:
Her RCI registration/status
Her PhD from the University of Rajasthan
Her claimed PhD in Sexology/Couple Therapy
Her other degrees and diplomas
The years in which she completed each qualification
I don't want to accuse anyone of misrepresenting their qualifications. I just want to know how to verify the information through official sources before trusting the crede

Your concern is genuine and you have the right as a client to check the authenticity of a professional’s claims. All the degrees can be checked by simply asking her to show her credentials like certificates. There is no shame in asking. Usually professionals display their degrees but many don’t. In that case you can simply ask them and they will oblige.
The RCI qualification can be checked by simply putting their RCI number on the RCI portal that has the whole directory of affiliated professionals and it’ll display their name and qualifications. All you need to know is the RCI number.

I suggest instead of going thru such investigations better change psychologist.
It's TRUST when u visit advocate, Dr. Or psychologist .. you never ask

You can check her CRR no. Which one gets post completion of the course . well in India only clinical psychologist needs a license to practice.

I second the opinion of Dr Dharmendra Solanki, instead of getting in the process of mistrust and trying to proove something, just think if it's working ro you or not. If not then change the psychologist. This way you will only follow the path of taking proof from others a d prooving yourself right. It's a spiral.

Hi... First of all what is the purpose or your query?
1. Are you a Recruiter?
In that case, there are ample background verification firms that conduct such information checks with Candidates consent before finalizing a key position.
2. Are you a Fellow Professional who wants to run a check on your rival?
In that case, it is not only unethical but a criminal offense to stalk someone or verify their credentials without their consent, without a legal reason.
3. Are you a Patient?
In that case, you need to avoid getting into such issues and find a professional that suits your standards.
Psychologist's Credentials can be easily verified by running an online check and contacting their batchmates, colleagues, professors, etc.
A full-time Masters Degree is required to practice in India. They shall also hold a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and MPhil/ Phd Degree in Psychology as an additional higher qualification.
But Therapeutic competence depends on years of experience conducting long-term therapies and working intensively on a particular set of population.
Remember, Psychology is a Science -- 'Behavioral Science', but Counselling is an 'Art'.
So no-one can claim that they do it better than others because they hold a particular Degree.
But yes, working as a Psychologist requires minimum 5 years of education (Bachelors and Masters or an Integrated Programme) and 2-3 Years of Work Experience is a bare minimum to acquire the skill-set that's not taught in colleges/universities.
Be rational and avoid spending too much time upon things that do not directly impact you or your long-term goals, desires, and outcomes.

I second Pooja’s opinion, double confirm with certificates, ask very casually, not intriguing, and get the rci number and check in RCI directory so you can judge whether it’s authentic or not.

• RCI registration: Verify the exact RCI/CRR registration number through RCI’s official register.
