How to find out if someone is depressed?
My nephew feels he is unhappy all the time. He keeps asking me how to be happy. I feel he is undergoing depression. How to convince him to see a psychiatrist? He is 17 years old and he is not ready to accept that he might be depressed.

Please spend time and listen to his problems. Adolescents generally are more emotional. It may be some peer or academic issues that are bothering him. If he reports that he is unable to manage or is getting thoughts of giving up, take him to a psychiatrist. Explain to him that depression is very much like any physical problem and can be treated
