Unhappy Mom Unhappy Daughter
I am an only child and recently got married to a man of my choice. I can't seem to be able to manage both sides of the family. My mother feels betrayed because both my husband &I haven't been able to bring both the families together successfully. My wedding was not the easiest either, even though both families had agreed to our marriage.I feel overwhelmed since I am very attached to my mother and I feel like I have let her down. My mother in law is going through some depression and there is no one I can confide with about this. Please help if there is hope

My friend you seem to be in a difficult position but definitely you can find a solution. To correct the misunderstandings and fulfill the expectations from both families is not always under your control. You may feel overwhelmed by this stress. Better you go for family therapy with a mental health professional, eg: a psychologist who will help you to get there. Also I’ll suggest to take your mother in law to a psychiatrist. Depression creates a negative attitude of a person towards everything. So to move forwatd with therapy you need to cure her depression too.
Next Steps
Consult psychologist for family therapy.
