How safe Lasik is?
I wanted to undergo this procedure but there have been mixed reviews about the same. A majority of people are saying that there are many complications after the surgery and Ophthalmologist themselves never take such risk. Also, reading about the complications on internet, many said that the color contrast becomes a problem and Halos, glares around the lights exist even after 6 months. That being said, I already have the problem of halos and glares from 2 years and no doctor could cure it. Which procedure should I consider apart from implantable permanent lens? I want the best treatment and can afford the most expensive treatment too. Thanks in advance. PS: Wavefront Lasik, PRK?

There are lot of advantages of being myopic ( less than -3 D). You will never need glasses after 40 years of age if you use glasses or contact lens now instead of Lasers . There are variety of complications with lasers as you have mentioned in your questions. LASIK operated emmetropic are not allowed in airforce, railways and army. You are just 20 years of age and going for LASIK may result in complications after 5 years.  Concentrate on your studies instead of focusing on getting LASIK done. You can  use contact lenses if you don't want glasses. All that glitters is not gold.

If you already have the problem of haloes and glare, then its only going to get worse after any laser surgery, even the most expensive one. Besides u are only 20 years old, u may not be eligible for surgery. If u are going for the surgery for purely cosmetic reasons, then i would advise u against it.

You should get your eyes evaluated first and then discuss with your doctor. Over a period of years there has been significant improvement in Lasik surgery. You can go for bladeless of femto Lasik with wavefront guided platform to minimise chances of complications. The experience of your surgeon also matters. Regards
