High Grade fever with running nose
Hi, My son is having high Grade fever (103) armpit check since last three days. He has running nose with some mucus and watery eyes. Rest he is ok no cough, no vomit, stool and urine is also ok. Temperature goes down with paracetamol (paracip) 6 hrs interval 5 ml. Additional we have given cefixime and cetrizine two doses daily. Please advice while fever goes down to 100 after medication again comes back to 100. Has weakeness but overall response is fine. Any suggestions would be helpful. Age : 4 and weight is 16 kgs.

Hello. Your child seems to have a viral URI. You need to observe the child till 4-5 days for fever which by all means will keep on coming back. Add steam inhalation thrice daily. Continue medication. Get a complete hemogram with other investigations on failover of the fever to subside by day 5.

This is viral upper respiratory infection. Will resolve in few days. Continue cetrizine in proper dose. Drink plenty of water. If fever persistent or danger signs develop then requires physical consultation.. Danger signs-fever not responding to paracetamol, behaviour change, dehydration, breathing difficulties
