High fever after dysentery
My child is 1 Year  Months and weighs 8.7 kg. She had dysentery for 6 days and settled now. We used Zanocin 50 (5 ml) for 3 days because of infections diarrhea. But high fever started now, it is reaching up to 103. My doctor asked for a blood and urine test.  Blood test shows there is a possibility of urine infection. We are asked to manage fever with imol 60ml in our home. We already gave 4 doses at 6 hrs interval We are starting zifi 50 (5 ml) from today. Is this kind of fever common after dysentery and when this will settle?

To diagnose urine infection, (uti) urine R/E and culture have to be done. If it's uti it wasn't dysentery or infectious diarrhea in the 1st place. Zanocin has side effects in children and should not be used if alternate equally efficious antibiotics are available.
Next Steps
Zifi may work in either case (uti or inf diarrhea) but important to know if it's uti as other studies may be needed to know kidney involvement or any congenial anomalies of the urinary tract
Health Tips
If the bacteria is sensitive, fever should come down after 48 hrs. If no uti antibiotics can be stopped after 5 days. If uti may need 10 to 14 days of zifi
