How can I reduce statins. I am monitoring my cholesterol by doing tests each month. So if I am taking statins 10 days in month my cholesterol labels are okay. Is it okay to take statins 10 days in a month. Or should I take it regularly. I want to reduce the statins to avoid side effects.

Taking statins 10 days a month is not at all advisable. You have to take it daily. Statin dose and need does not only depend upon cholesterol levels it depends upon your overall risk profile. I need your details for further advice. Consult online with all reports and details. Till then take statins daily as prescribed and do lifestyle modifications. No need to repeat lipid profile every month. Once in 3 months is fine

You follow diet and exercise for 3 months after stopping statins. If you could bring your Lipids under control then continue with lifestyle measures. If not take statins along with lifestyle measures. The side effects are almost nil.

Best alternative is exercise. Can take it safely otherwise without any discernible significant side effect.
