My father in law has swelling and pain just below scrotum area. Some doctor diagnosed it as hernia. It has this symptom since 1 year and now he is having some pain. Age is 55 years and he is farmer so quite fit person. At what stage surgery can be done? Any medications can be taken to avoid surgery? Can surgery be done at early stage?

If it's a hernia there is no such medicinal treatment, have to undergo for surgery, better to do as it's been diagnosed rather than waiting for some form of complications
