Hemoptysis when to admit?
My father had hemoptysis of 10ml/day once in a month from past three months with daily cough, but when consulted doctor, he said it is due to cavity from post tb and expected, he gave tabs to reduce cough and said when hemoptysis is more than 25/ml per day, admit immediately. Why is this suggested?

Today 10 or 25 ml hemoptysis can be more some day or severe >500 ml and can be fatal. Get properly diagnosed and treated. You will need CT scan or bronchoscopy to rule out reactivation of TB or development of Aspergilloma. Surgery and bronchial artery embolisation may be timely interventions.

It is wrong to quantify admission criteria as hemoptysis more than 25ml per day. Patient requires evaluation before it increases
Next Steps
Kindly consider for a personal video / audio consult for detailed explanation and plan of action
