My mother is having a heart pain since yesterday and she has varicose veins in the calf muscles. She is not able to stand for very long and getting exhausted very easily. She always complains about having a fast heart beat after every meal. What could be the reason? Does varicose veins has anything to do with this?

There are a few things to be ruled out One is Deep Vein Thrombosis Second is Pulmonary Embolism Third is Coronary artery disease Initially get an ECG, 2D Echo and bilateral lower limb venous and arterial Doppler done If that comes out normal further evaluation by CT CAG would be best to rule out both CAD and PE Dr Ashish Srivastava General Physician & Clinical Cardiologist
