Hi,
I tested for HbA1c test today and the reading is 5.8% and the mean blood glucose level is 119.8 mg/dl. My age is 31.
Is this normal?
First, they have sent a report that the reading is 6.3%, also wanted to know if 6.3% is also normal please?
Regards,
Raghu

Hello.. Your 2 Hb1Ac reports are 6.3 and now its 5.8....criteria for diagnosis of diabetes is when your Hb1Ac is 6.5 or above.... When your Hb1Ac is below 5.7 its normal.... When it's between 5.7 and 6.5 you are borderline or we say it as Prediabetes... So friend you are at present in Prediabetes range... Prediabetes patients can progress into diabetes in 20 to 30 percent of times in next few yrs of no measures taken.... U have also good chance of reverting back to normal with diet and exercise..!!! I will say its very good time u caught these sugar levels so now with preventive measures u can be absolutely normal.... Preventive measures u need to do is wt loss at least 5 to 6 kg with diet) low calories) and exercise..!!! No need of medicine at this point..!! All the best
