Hair fall after Dengue
Hello Dr, I have suffered hair fall after Dengue fever. Dengue causes hair fall? Please advise me how to stop hair fall.

You are suffering from hormonal changes causing Post dengue telogen effluvium  causing hair fall. It's completely stoppable even regrowth of hair is possible with certain medications without any side effects. Treatment depends on the grade of hair loss. Yes, any severe illness, stress, surgery, trauma can cause a condition called telogen effluvium. Usually seen 3 to 4 months after the episode. Let us know the duration and also pictures is you have localised thinning of hair

Post any intense illnesses like typhoid, malaria, dengue, chickengunya and covid etc can cause excessive hairfall known as telogen effluvium.
