I was diagnosed with OCD and currently on medication Flunil 20 but when I feel anxious due to intrusive thoughts I take medication and when anxiety cams down I stop medicine and this cycle repeats again and again. What should I do?

Thank you for sharing. For OCD, consistent medication use is crucial . Stopping and restarting prevents the medicine from working effectively and can worsen symptoms in the longer run. Fluoxetine needs time and steady dosage to help. Please stick to the treatment plan and consult your psychiatrist before making any changes. OCD improves best with regular medication and therapy together. If possible, start psychotherapy- focused on CBT (ERP).
Next Steps
Try to be regular with medications and do not self-medicate/ stop the use without appropriate consultation from a psychiatrist.

Strict drug compliance is a must. Medications take a few days to start showing effect and it is highly recommended to take the medicine as adviced by your psychiatrist. Overwhelming anxiety can be managed by therapy or other medicines.
Next Steps
Good appointment for a consult.
Health Tips
Strict drug adherence

It is advisable that you take the medications as prescribed by the consulting Psychiatrist. The psychotropic medicines are unique anyway with respect to their duration of action and other properties. Taking medicines erratically will cause more harm than good.
Next Steps
Take the prescribed treatment regularly

Hi What you’re doing—starting and stopping Flunil based on anxiety—is actually reinforcing the OCD cycle. This medication needs to be taken consistently to work effectively, not just during anxiety spikes. Irregular use can delay recovery and worsen symptoms. Please consult your psychiatrist for a steady plan, and pair it with CBT and ERP therapy for lasting relief. Take therapy, and you can connect with me on nine two six six seven two six zero six five.

Hey there, Psychiatric medications should be taken regularly to achieve a steady state of drug concentration in your body and it usually takes a few weeks to be clinically effective. Taking them on and off won't work like other over the counter drugs like some pain killers. These drugs need to be taken regularly only then it'll be effective.

For OCD illness, you should not take medication like that. You have to take continuously for proper duration. Inadequate treatment leads to poor response in long duration.
