My 7 yr old Daughter has been diagnosed with Gall Stones which are 2-3 mm in size. She has been asked to undergo HIDA Scan. Is it necessary to have the scan as its clear she has gall stones. Will the test give reasons why the stones were formed. How much does the Hida test cost ?. How will it impact the line of treatment.

Your daughter needs to undergo Hb electrophoresis test tp rule out the possibility of hemolytic disease as in children it is very common. But still the investigation may turn out to be normal as in 50% cases there is usually no predisposing cause for the formation of gall stones
Next Steps
