Many times an MRI shows strain, while infact the ligament may be torn/ non functional.
Only a clinical examination will be helpful in determining if indeed the ligament is not present.
Treatment depends on your activity level and symptoms.
Next Steps
get evaluated by an orthopaedic surgeon
do exercises to strengthen the quadriceps muscles
you MAY need a surgery followed by rehabilitation

Incomplete ACL tears should be given a chance to heal by conservative treatment.
Above knee cast for 3-4wk.along with anti inflammatory & antioxidants followed by physiotherapy usually help.
Full thickness complete tears at your age group need surgical intervention in the form of ACL Reconstruction until and unless you are a sedentary office goer sitting and minimal walking
In case of incomplete tears and sprains, the surgery is dictated by clinical examination. Full thickness tears will usually require surgery depending on your lifestyle. You will walk in a day but it will take about a year for complete rehabilitation after the surgery.
