Fracture non union distal shaft tibia
Hi, My father fall down from motor vechile and right leg got fracture 4 years back, twice operated but still not completely heal, recently met with doctor after ct scan also still doctor have  bit doubt whether completely heal or not.. doctor given me two options 1. If it's heal he will remove plates inside leg 2. If not heal he might go with another operation like bone grafting ..( second time operation also done with bone grafting ) And setting up with rods/plates. My concern here is my father age is 65 already done twice leg operated first time done with normal way ..second time bone grafting ..now days he was feeling so much pain..could you please suggest which is the best option And good hospital in Bangalore for fracture fix operation Ct scean report: Fracture non union distal shaft of tibia with intramedullary nail fixation Disuse osteponic changes

Since the non union is confirmed, and your father has pain, it’s better to correct the issue. The nail will have to be removed and replaced with either a nail or plate or other fixation device. Age is not a significant criteria, but a clinical examination is important to plan the surgery.

I think definitely healing is hampered. Improving general health sort out diabetes and heart issues. If smoking or alcohol then that has to be stopped. Based on amount of non union revision surgery with plates and screws or ring fixator called ilizarov would be helpful
