Swelling is common upto 6 months after injury - sometimes upto two years. Swelling usually happens after walking for some time. It is due to gravity. Foot exercises and elevation might help

This is because of stiffness and because the foot is kept immobilised for long. Once you start mobilising your foot and with help of hot water compressions the swelling will come down over a week.
Next Steps
Medications like Tendocare and Enzomac will be helpful.
