Fluctuating BP
I'm 46 years old fit and healthy man, Im diagnosed with Covid positive 3 weeks back. Since then my BP is raising above 140/90. Prior to that my BP was always in the range of 120/80- 135/85. I'm non diabetic and non hypertensive and regularly exercise but I'm asthmatic and doctor prescribed Maxflo 250 inhaler for dialy use for last 6 months. For last 2-3 days I checked my BP multiple times around 40 times a day using digital device. With 15 mins of rest in lying down position it shows readings between 125/85-135/85, but after slight walk also the reading turns to 140/90-145/95. Is this a temporary hike due to Covid or am I into Stage-1 hypertension. Can I reverse this without medication?

Raised blood pressure in a previously non hypertensive individual following COVID infection is well documented after multiple studies.Apart from high BP , raised glucose levels is another finding. There's no need to check your blood pressure frequently in a day. Chart out your BP readings morning and evening for a few days. BP reading is measured using upper arm digital bp apparatus taking average of 2 readings. If it reads on frequently above 135/85 in an home bp reading apparatus,it's confirmed. With lifestyle modification and food habits ,salt restrictions plus exercise for 30 minutes a day for 5 days in a week will definitely help to check your blood pressure. Medicines are considered later

Sir first of all don’t go for electronic devices for BP monitoring, as they are not accurate. Secondly I will advice you to go for BP charting at least twice daily. If your BP goes beyond 140/90mmHg, than you have to go for some life style modification and diet control. It’s commonly noticed that post Covid some patients became hypertension or diabetic but I don’t think that you are one of those.
Next Steps
Go for BP charting

Covid can't be a cause for high BP. Please check your BP in the morning for one week. Then we can decide whether you need treatment for Hypertension or not.

No point checking BP 40 times a day Fluctuations in bp is rule With walk and work out BP will be high and it is acceptable Check twice a week at different times of day and if most readings are more than 140/90 in resting condition you may need treatment, Reduce oil sugar and salt in diet and regular excercise are great ways to reverse borderline high BP
