Flap surgery cover
Hi docs, My health insurer is denying for treatment cost of flap surgery.. it says that it comes under normal dental treatment. My health insurance covers all surgeries but they are saying it is more of a cosmetic surgery.

Don't use the term flap surgery. Use the term mucogingival surgery. It's not purely cosmetic surgery, it's very important for the functional part. Delay in this can result in further damage to dental apparatus

The terms of your health insurance are provided in detail to you before you sign the agreement. Every company has different policies and your health insurance will be able to provide that information better. You can go through that document again. But as far as my knowledge is concerned (which is not all inclusive about all the health insurance plans available in India), flap surgery is not covered by health insurance companies. Not all but some of the health insurance companies do cover jaw surgery is done for trauma cases and oral cancer cases. Regards.
