Fever only
Dear Dr. My son(7 months10days and 6.75kg right now) is having fever from yesterday and consult with primary govt hospital at my village. I am not sure why suddenly fever came for him. They gave paracetamol syrup 125mgl + trimethoprim & sulphamethoxazole oral suspension (see attachment). We are using wet cloth to wipe his body on every 1hr and giving regular food which is following last one month + mother's milk. Fever is coming and going regularly after 4hrs and every 5hr giving both medicine. Post the 4hr fever is getting started. Please help me what can I do? Right now I am living at hometown and no child specialist nearby 15km. I am afraid to travel with baby because of COVID-19. Thanks a lot.

if baby fever not subsided by prescribed medicine you can do test FOR COVID 19, JUST for away any doubt.

You can continue the same medicine. For fever give paracetamol 3.5 ml every 4 hrs . Make the child drink lots of water. Food normal homemade food he can take . If temperature is raising u can wipe with wet cloth . We can wait for one more day if child is active and passing urine, taking some food .
Next Steps
Monitor temperature

See it's little complicates to tell straight away.. U didn't mention 1.any associated complaints like cold/cough/vomitings 2. Wheter he is active in between fever spikes / dull 3. Any rash on body Mostly it's a viral fever... It will always recur after 4-6hr... Stays for 3-5days. Continue Paracetmol and stop other drug. Take Syp.Azee -100 ( 4ml) once a day morning for 3 days Continue using medication and tepid sponging
Health Tips
