Fever and cough
Hello dr,my son is of 9 years old healthy boy
Since 2 days he is having fever and cough I hv given him ibugesic plus syrup fever and cough syrup as well
Fever is getting reduce in afternoon but morning and evening again fever coming
Due to that the child becoming week and seems uncomfortable even he is getting loose
Kindly help me out ...

The symptoms are inclining more towards viral infection.
Have a record of temperature readings. If temperature is above 100F give paracetamol 6 hrly, maintain hydration, bifilac sachets 1 sachet twice a day, syrup zinconia 5 mL daily. If symptoms persists, increase in intensity of cough, loose stools, reduced urine output, breathing difficulty kindly consult your paediatrician.

In a 9-year-old, fever + cough + loose stools for 2 days is most likely a viral illness (flu or adenovirus). The recurring morning and evening fever pattern is typical of viral fever. Ibugesic Plus is appropriate â continue it. Loose stools during fever is also common in children due to the infection.

Give Ibugesic Plus every 6-8 hrs as needed for fever. Ensure good hydration with ORS and fluids â give light food like khichdi. For loose stools, add Zinc syrup (10mg once daily). cyclical fever pattern, fatigue, and sudden onset of diarrhea are highly consistent with an acute infectious illness, such as a viral gastroenteritis with respiratory involvement, influenza, or a bacterial infection.
A pediatric evaluation is strongly recommended because the combination of fever and loose stools poses a risk for secondary dehydration, and a physical exam is necessary to isolate the source of the infection.
The loose stools could either be a primary gastrointestinal symptom of the infection or a common, temporary side effect of the ibuprofen component in Ibugesic Plus. [1, 2]
For initial supportive care, you may manage his symptoms by focusing on continuous fluid replenishment with Oral Rehydration Salts (ORS), keeping him well-rested, and offering small, easily digestible meals.
