Feeling sad often, disturbed sleep
My daughter,21 year old, diagnosed with bipolar 6years ago & then disgnosed BPD 4years ago. She was taking lithium for about 2 years& now she has lost hope in any medicines as she feels lifeless while taking medicines. These days she stays mostly locked up in her room & gets very sad when somebody visits our house. Sometimes, she stays awake whole night locked in her room & then sleeps in morning. Her sleep & eating schedule is highly disturbed. Also, she feels like ending the pain by taking life. I dont know what to do , as she is no longer willing to see doctor.

Hi... Sometimes there is a mismatch between the patient and the doctor (Psychiatrist/Psychologist). In such case it is better to consult another professional but dropping the treatment cannot be a solution. There is a good Psychiatrist in Bangalore - Dr. Naveen Jayaram (M.D. Psychiatry, NIMHANS). He sits in various hospitals and available on Practo as well. You can consult him. Try to understand this, medication and therapy goes side-by-side. Sometimes people take only one thing and expect a complete recovery. If the root causes of her condition is more psycho-social in nature, psychotherapy/counselling will play a major role but if the root cause of her condition is more biological/genetic in nature, medication will be more crucial. In either case, both medication and counselling will go side-by-side.
Next Steps
Take Counselling Sessions from a Psychologist on Weekly Basis. To Seek my Services Online you can Google me or visit my Website (https://gunjanmaithil.wixsite.com/therapy)
Health Tips
You need to motivate her to take the treatment. You can ask some common people (friends/family) who have benefited from Counselling/Medication to motivate her to not loose hope with her treatment and consult other professionals (Psychiatrist/Psychologist).
