Thank you for sharing what you're going through. It sounds like you’ve been under a great deal of distress, especially with ongoing physical symptoms and anxiety that’s not being fully acknowledged. Your concerns are valid, and it’s important you feel heard and supported. What you’re describing- persistent worry about health despite normal medical findings- could be linked to health anxiety or somatic symptom disorder, especially when symptoms cause intense fear, like fear of cancer, and interfere with your daily life. This doesn’t mean your symptoms are not real- just that the anxiety around them also needs attention. The fact that you’re feeling helpless and even suicidal is very concerning. You deserve immediate mental health support.
Next Steps
1. Seek urgent help from a psychiatrist or psychologist- especially if you're feeling suicidal. Please don’t wait. You can also visit the emergency department if things feel overwhelming. 2. Get a thorough physical re-evaluation, including an ultrasound or ENT review with imaging if not yet done. Sometimes getting a second opinion can also provide relief. 3. Begin psychological therapy, especially CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), which is very effective for health anxiety and panic linked to unexplained symptoms. 4. Consider medication for anxiety and depressive symptoms, under psychiatric supervision. These can help regulate both mood and physical symptom perception.
Health Tips
a) Avoid repeated Google searches about symptoms—they can worsen anxiety. b) Keep a symptom-anxiety journal to track patterns, and show it to your doctor. c) Know that your fear of cancer is a common manifestation in health anxiety, but reassurance alone won’t help unless anxiety itself is addressed.
