Family history of Cancer
Hello, My grandmother died of cancer in her stomach region (I do not know the name of the exact location where her cancer was present, but it was not esophagus). Now, my mother is in her 40s and does NOT have cancer till now. My father also has no history of cancer till now though he is now in his 70s. Do I need to worry about Cancer due to my grandmother's history? Please answer.

It depends on many factors , usually cancers seen in old age are not genetic and it won’t run on family line . You can consult me online , give full history of cancers in your family as well as other risk factors involving you and your family . Then only I could give you exact risk percentage involving you and the necessary screening according to your risk level .

Hi Hereditary cancers usually will occur in early age. Basing on your limited history it is not looking hereditary cancer and it appears to be no increased risk, but keep in mind there is another term called familial risk. There will be slightly increased risk of cancer in family members of the patient having cancer. Cancer can be preventable or cured when detected early get yourself and your family members screened.
