For kids it’s better to do a dilated eye evaluation for refraction testing (glasses checking) with retinoscopy rather than undilated eye evaluation normal trial testing.

For kids always go for dilated refraction that is cycloplegic refraction as there is tendency to accomodate

For younger kids, especially if we are checking glass power for the first time, it is always better to do a dilated evaluation
