Excessive sleeping
My father had sore throat since last week, while he was on an official trip. He returned on Monday and was already on medication. He is usually a very very active person for his age. All of a sudden, we are seeing him sleep all through the day. For almost 18 hours a day. It's very out of character for him. The doctor has given medication only for his sore throat condition. I am worried if it's something serious. He has been stressed at work till last week. Should we get him tested for anything?

The medicine he is taking may be the cause for excessive sleep and the travel tiredness may also add on to it. As the age is advancing now, however active a person may be...but he or she will start showing age related changes. Getting easily tired is one such symptoms.
Next Steps
if the condition persists even after stopping medication consult a physician

Excessive fatigue and work related stress plus the hot weather can be the reason. If he has no any related symptom, then better is to wait and watch. If the problem persist, then seek medical consultation.
