EIF on 2D fetal echo
Hello doctor. I am pregnant with 26 weeks. I had my NT scan, double marker blood tests and anamoly scans previously. All of them were normal. Yesterday I had 2D fetal echo and there is EIF on left ventricle. Rest all the other parameters of 2D echo is fine and normal. Is it a matter concern ?

Echogenic focus is often found in various parts of the foetus. Most of the time they are inocuous and don't cause any problems. They may even disappear with the passage of time.
At times they are soft markers for foetal anomaly. If you have got your quadruple marker and TIFFA done then you are safe.

It is usually seen in 5-10% normal babies. If other screening tests are negative. Usually nothing to worry about. If there were any other defects associated with it in the anomaly scan , then it would have been a matter of concern.
