Ear drum degradation

I'have ear pain from more than a year. It stopped but now again it started. I consulted a doctor who said that I have to go through an operation as my ear drum is degrading.

You might be suffering from condition known as adhesive otitis media which is chronic condition secondary to chronic eustachian tube dysfunction. Usually it is not painful. My advise is to take second opinion before deciding on surgery.
