Duration of ocd medicies
Good morning doctor! I have been diagnosed with ocd and am on medication since last 2 years. Now the symptoms had almost disappeared. Could you please tell me what is actual duration for the medication and will I be able to live a normal life after treatment Thanks

Once you attain near normal improvement means we can gradually reduce the dosage and stop the medicine but this has to be done under a psychiatrist supervision.better to consult

If it has been two years, the majority of people with OCD will require ongoing treatment for the rest of their lives. OCD is caused by an imbalance in serotonin neurotransmitter levels in brain pathways. When the medications are reduced, if the symptoms reoccur, the medications must be kept at a specific level to control the symptoms, which is likely to be lifelong in most patients. Best of luck.

Hi.. usually people need to take medicines for a longer duration in OCD. If you don't have any symptoms and maybe you can give a trial  by reducing the dosage and see for any reemergence of symptoms.
