Dry cough from past 3 days with no fever
Iam suffering with persistent and dry cough from past 3-4 days now. The frequency has gone down however I feel congestion and strain breathing especially when I lie down. Also there is post natal drip. I have a history of broncitis ( teens year)but I did not get this test done in past 15 years. What is the issue? Why is it suddenly happening? Can it be cured via OTC meds considering the lockdown situation? Please help.

Hello from your history and background of allergy, the post nasal drip is probably causing the cough, if you have acidity, this problem could be increased by it. Steam inhalation twice daily should help, also try finishing your food a couple of hrs before lying down at night and avoiding spicy food.

Hi.. I understand your problems.. From the history you provided, you could probably be having cough due to post-nasal drip.. Do you have associated fever / sore throat / body pain? If not, try steam inhalation, salt water gargling, avoid spicy / oily food.. Antihistamines and cough suppressant are available over-the-counter. Consult a Pulmonologist if symptoms don’t improve.
