My mother got an ultrasound scan done in March and another one in September. The one done in March mentions a Right Renal Calculus measuring 4mm in the middle calyx. Whereas, the scan done this month says there is 'no evidence of renal calculus or mass seen'. She didn't take any medication for the kidney stones from March till now. How is this possible? Should I trust the second report?

The measurement of stones varies by few mms and as far its in the kidney and size of 4mm nothing much to worry and these small stones which are less than 5mm usually pass down spontaneously. If she s doesnt have pain over the right flank then the second report s usually normal. If she still has pain over the left flank u can confirm the presence or absence of stone by doing a plain CT KUB.
