The treatment  is best only when you get releived of symptoms completely. Disc problem  can be taken care of endoscope  surgery as well as open microdiscectomy.  Sometimes you need screws and cage if overweight and xray shows Listhesis (instability) .
Next Steps
Let your surgeon decide which is best for you. yes endscopic is very good in acute single disc prolapse.
Health Tips
Side effects would always be there but less than 5 %. In open its 3 dimensional , so chances of nerve injuries are less and release of nerve root compression is better achieved in chronic cases.
