Disc dessication of lumbar spine
My mother said her back is pain and went to an orthopaedic. She was asked to do an MRI. We did and the report said that the posterior left paracentral disc is bulging at L4-5 level with left lateral recess narrowing. The doctor at Imphal,Manipur suggested an operation but my mother is really freaking out. She says she wants to consult a Neurologist or Orthopedic in Delhi. My question is,"Is operation really necessary? Is there any other way we can pursue, physiotherapy, exercises anything?" My mother stays with my father in Imphal and all my siblings in diffents states of the country.

Need for surgery will depend on mri plus clinical findings. If in doubt you should consult another neurosurgeon.
