Diet during immunotherapy
My father (Age 59) is undergoing immunotherapy treatment as he diagnosed with lung cancer (Non small cell lung carcinoma). He lost 16 kg of his weight in 6 months before diagnosis. As present, his weight is 50 kg. Please advice a safe diet plan to gain weight.

Intake of plenty of vegetables cooked,sprouts and ftuits are the best in every meal. Millets in the form gruel with vegetables makes a good breakfast meal Walnuts,almonds,figs powdered and with milk everyday is a good drink. Milk milkproducts with ginger,turmeric,pepper,cloves,cinnamon will make good immunity drink. Giloy powder,Tinospora cordifolia is a good immunity booster 1/4 tsf with water everyday once. Chyavanaprash two tsf once a day is also a good immunity booster in respiratory tract diseases.

He need small and frequent  meals.Diet rich in carbohydrates proteins and healthy fats .To plan a diet I need to take a detailed diet history .

Diet during immunotherapy will depend a lot on the present food tolerance levels ,frequency of consumption ,any existing CO morbidity ,any supplements intake + food preferences at present.

Depending on the tolerances he can be added foods rich in proteins such as whole Pulses,BEANS, PEAS ,+ whole cereals along vegetables and fruits to increase fiber as well To be avoided raw vegetables , raw leaves chutney ,dips and raw nuts and sprouts.

Try to have whole fruits without skin. Especially  yellow orange red. Like papaya pomegranate,  Apple, Orange, sweet lime , kiwi can be started. Include turmeric with pepper  in the diet you can add in soup or just 1/4 tsp per day can be taken. Bell peppers, tomato, pumpkin, carrots will also improve  immunity.  Millets can be taken as a source  of  energy and calcium and iron. Walnuts , almonds, pumpkin seeds, flaxseed, chia seeds can be added as source of omega 3 Consult me on practo online consultation for a personalized diet plan.
