Diarrhea can indeed be a side effect of Augmentin (amoxicillin-clavulanate), as antibiotics can sometimes disrupt the balance of bacteria in the gut, leading to gastrointestinal symptoms. Metrogyl (metronidazole) may also contribute to these side effects in some cases.
If the diarrhea is mild and you are close to completing the course of antibiotics, you may want to continue the medication, but stay hydrated and consider taking a probiotic to support gut health. However, if the diarrhea is severe, persistent, or associated with other symptoms like abdominal pain or fever, it's essential to stop the medication and consult your doctor.
