Hi
First of all you need to make sure your child is not dehydrated so plenty of fluids
This looks like Acute dysentery ( if there is blood and no iron supplementation is being given), you would have to start with antibiotics
Please visit nearest pediatrician in person for proper dosage of antibiotics and further management
This needs careful attention.
Possible causes of black stool:
Iron supplements or certain foods (harmless)
But can also indicate digested blood (melena)
If the child is active, with no pain or vomiting, it may still be a mild infection
However, black stool should not be ignored
Next Steps
Start ORS frequently
Continue normal diet (no starvation)
Give zinc for 14 days
Avoid unnecessary antibiotics
Health Tips
Urgent evaluation needed if:
Persistent black stools
Weakness or pallor
Vomiting or abdominal pain
Blood in stool
It is better to get a stool examination and hemoglobin (Hb) check once.
