I am sorry that you are in so much distress. Sometimes , if depression does not respond to just antidepressant treatment , another medication like an antipsychotic can be added and has been proven to be useful in certain cases of ‘resistant depressant ‘. I am not aware of your detailed history and symptoms , but this might be one of the reasons why amipride was given to you . I would suggest that please never hesitate to ask your doctor if you don’t understand the reason why you are prescribed a certain medication . Depression can be very disabling especially when not adequately treated . Yes , there are a lot you can do if a medication does not help along with taking the medications as prescribed . - It has been established that Regular exercise / walks can help in depression . - Yoga / Meditation can also improve your mood . - Certain talking therapies like Cognitive Behaviour Therapy have been proven to be effective along with medication . - Vitamin B / D deficiency , thyroid disorder can lead to depression which remains unresponsive to antidepressant . I will recommend that you get your vitamin and thyroid levels checked . - There are combination of medications which can be tried if a single antidepressant does not work . However , I would recommend that you speak to your psychiatrist about it and consider switching antidepressant or adding other medications only after consultation . All the best
