Hello,
Thanks for the query.Even ,with medications ,depression might last for twelve to fourteen months .And relapse ,depends on the presence of residual symptoms ,type of depression ,drug dosage and compliance .Hence it is advisable meet your psychiatrist ,discuss the course of medication .with good drug compliance and psychotherapy yoy would definitely improve .

If you are on antidepressants, you need to gradually taper off the medicines rather than stopping suddenly...if meds are stopped suddenly, the symptoms would recur.
Duration of depression and the use of antidepressants is different for each and every person
Regular evaluation during tapering off of medicines would help in determining how long should the medicines be used?
