Depression
I am facing problems with my daily work. The last couple of years were not that great. Initially I didn't know what it was, it reflected really poor in my 12th result. After sometime I thought it it depression. I tried meditation and other mindfulness practices. But nothing helped. Then due to some family problem I couldn't do anything. Now it has become really difficult for me to go with even one day. What should I do?

Dear human, I appreciate your effort to seek help and I understand how difficult it can be to not able to find an immediate answer to the problems that you’ve been facing for years. Not being able to understand what’s happening to yourself can be quite confusing and tiresome. Sometimes meditation along with other mindfulness practices may not work for you in such situations .I would suggest you approach a mental health professional and get therapy to understand what you’re going through. Identifying issues from the past can often seem stressful but with a therapist you could feel relieved and emotionally supported. Doing poorly in your 12th board exams and with the other hardships that have come your way, it is completely valid to feel distress. I appreciate your strength and I assure you that the way you feel presently will not be permanent and that your discomfort is valid. When you feel that there is a problem, finding a way to manage it with a trained professional can only make it easier. In the meanwhile, try the following- 1. Express yourself freely by journaling- Take some time out from your schedule to address your thoughts and feelings. Writing down what you think can help you understand and acknowledge your emotions in a healthy manner. This may also include painting and drawing if that helps you to stop being critical of your own thoughts. 2. Take a Break-Take a break from work to rest and rejuvenate. Sometimes individuals may feel even more stressed when they’re failing at harnessing the practice of meditation or mindfulness. This happens when we are focusing on expectations, rather than simply seeing how things really are. 3. Do what you love-Engage in activities that you like doing because it can help you find practices that can make you happy. Taking care of yourself and engaging in your hobbies will help you to live in the present and to also feel better when you’re worried. Eat,sleep and exercise well. 4. Talk to someone-We end up increasing our limited beliefs when we try to tame our thoughts. In such cases, I would encourage you to talk to someone you trust. When you speak to someone who loves and cares for you, you feel understood and guided. This can also help to view your problem from a different perspective. Hope this helps :) Take care!
