Hello, I recently visited a dental clinic to have an X-ray done. They used a 360 degree rotating machine. The first image apparently did not come out well so they repeated the scan. I'm worried about potential over-exposure to the machine radiation, since I was in the scanning room for about 5 minutes overall instead of the usual 1-2 minutes, and the scan was done twice. Is it a matter of concern?

Dear patient. This is a common myth. Dental x-rays produce negligible amount of radiation for a patient. It is actually the dentist and the staff working at the centre that are exposed to radiation. Due to the large number of x-rays they take in their lives. An individual is exposed to more radiation from sun and their environment ,than they can receive from multiple dental x-rays. Despite that most dentists take additional precautions for their patient. Avoid relying on hearsay about dental health. Hope this helped.
