Hello... The crown and RCT per se don’t cause infection first of all. Infection in the surrounding area occurs due to lack of good oral hygiene, like not brushing and flossing properly after getting an RCT and crown. If the crown made by your dentist is not proper and you have food lodgement in that area that causes infection. If the RCT, crown and hygiene everything is good then their are no chances. Consult your dentist again, he might help you well.

It depends on cavity which occurred before getting rct. If suppose the cavity is in between two teeth and only one tooth having pain. Usually patient gets RCT for only that tooth. The next tooth which is having cavity but no pain is usually ignored. So its necessary to evaluate properly n get treatment for adjacent teeth if necessary as precaution
