Number of times does not determine thickness removed. Guessing a tooth preparation was done for crown or veneer. Do not worry

Your description does not make it clear whether the drilling was done for some cavity for aesthetic procedures like laminates. The first thing that you need to establish as a ground rule is to trust your operating dentist for his work and his words. Otherwise for the sake of your own health, consult other dentist. Enamel thickness on the incisors also varies from patient to patient and there is no fixed value for that. Crown preparation is done based upon the case being operated upon and it does not make a difference whether it is done in 2 times or three times. Regards.
