My question is that is there a chance of the inner teeth inside the crown being damaged while changing crowns on recrowning?

Most of the times...the teeth is not damaged until and unless the tooth inside has got some cavity. If taken proper measures while changing the crown , it won't get damaged. So consult the dentist accordingly for more information .
