Talk to experienced psychiatrist online and get your health questions answered in just 5 minutes.
Does your father have any other psychiatric problem in past. I mean to say H/O any depressive or mood disorder like hypomania or mania. I would not like to question the reliability of diagnosis of dementia but I think these symptoms may be indicative of old onset bipolar disorder or manic episode which necessitate ruling out any lesion in brain investigating him by MRI brain. Other baseline investigations RFT and serum electrolyte also needs to be conducted. Team work by a neurologist and psychiatrist will be of immense help in this case. Any way immmediate take him to any psychiatrist at the earliest to avoid any suicidal or homicidal event.
These wiered behaviour are not the presentation of dementia. These symptoms are looking like brief psychosis or Hospital psychosis. He need immediate psychiatric help and hospitalisation may required. Because in this state life threatening acts (suicidal/ homicidal/ injury to self or other) are increased.
Next Steps
Consult with psychiatrist (either Allopathic or Homoeopathic) immediately.
Health Tips
Homoeopathy has better option for this current state.
But in dementia there you may find results less than your high expectations of recovery.
