Dark skin around neck, armpits
Hi, I'm 39 yrs old and my skin around neck, armpits and groin area is very dark. This has been observed more during my first pregnancy around 10 yrs back and it's still there. 1] What are the reasons? 2] Can it be treated and can I retain my original skin color? 3] What all tests will be done? 4] Treatment cost and duration? 5] Do I have to meet a specialist for this? Thanks

This description sounds like acanthosis nigricans. This is a condition where your skin folds like underarms, inner thighs or groin, neck and face becomes dark. It is either genetic or due to sedantry lifestyle and overweight. This can be treated. Please call me or contact me with photos using online consult option for proper diagnosis, treatment advice and prescription.
