Squint surgery is essentially a safe eye surgery as it involves dealing with eye muscles which are around the eyeball. So eyeball is not affected from within and so these surgeries are usually safe.
But like any surgery, there are risks of failure and need for resurgery in <5% cases and other complications are very less <1%.
