Sir, my father has been diagnosed with stage 3 ckd, he has no diabetes, his bp is well controlled on hypertensive medication... My question is with proper diet, control of bp, and treatment by nephrologist, will my father be able to live a long life? What is the life expectancy in stage 3 patient, I am very worried

Hi The renal disease progression and overall prognosis depends on type of kidney disease and other co morbidities. Your father could be have having hypertension related kidney disease or chronic interstitial nephritis.. regular follow up with nephrologist, healthy lifestyle and diet may have good prognosis.. and creatinine may remain stable for long. Avoid pain killers and alternative medications

We need to keep following up the creatinine monthly..if it remains in this same level, life expectancy is good. Pls do usg abdomen and urine routine if not done.
