Counselling for couple before marriage
I am about to get married in few months. Though I have been talking and meeting the girl several times over the past few months, I find myself clouded with doubts related to marriage and my partner, that fear me a lot. Would like to consult a marriage counsellor before proceeding towards marriage and need guidance or help. Also would be interested to know if we can get marriage counselling together or individually?

Hello, I see that you are enquiring about pre marital counseling. Such counseling sessions involve taking into consideration both partner's values, beliefs and goals, and trying to resolve any doubts/concerns the couple may have before getting married. The sessions are conducted in a mixed manner - individually with each partner, as well as joint sessions. It varies for each couple as every person and relationship is unique. I hope this provides you with clarity. I also commend you for observing your discomfort and being willing to consider counseling.

Hi... It is okay to have some doubts/fears before getting married and it is really good that you are seeking Pre-Marital Counselling for yourself and your partner. You both can seek Counselling separately or together. It completely depends on both of you and the therapist/psychologist you choose to consult. Personally, I prefer taking separate sessions first and joint sessions later, when the rapport is built. Some therapists may go for joint sessions right away. It completely depends on the case and the people involved. There is no one best way of doing such things. What works best for one couple, may or may not work well for other couple.
Next Steps
Consult a Psychologist. Pre-Marital Counselling or Couple Therapy is required.
