Contact Lens for Astigmatism
Hi everyone, I am curious about contacts but due to high cylindrical vision ( almost -4 in both eyes) I have been unable to use over the counter options. My doctors have mentioned custom contacts and I would love to hear the opinions of ophtalmologists here on the same. Any recommendations and things I should look into. Anything I should keep in mind in this process?

Hey, u need to check the keratometry readings and sometimes a special test Pentacam might be indicated based on clinical findings. Custom based soft toric lenses or scleral lenses are best and even give better vision than glasses. Make sure to rule out Keratoconus ( a condition in which the cornea is conical instead of round)

For high cylindrical power (around –4.00D), standard soft toric lenses may not give clear vision. Custom soft toric, RGP, or hybrid lenses offer sharper, more stable correction but need expert fitting and regular follow-ups. They take longer to make and cost more, but provide much better clarity for high astigmatism.
